The Sulphur Reactor is a Bypass Reactor filled with sulphur beads which promote the growth of the specialized bacteria that remove nitrate. As a byproduct of the biochemical reaction that takes place in the Sulphur Reactor, sulphuric acid is produced and in consequence this unit must always be used in combination with a Hydrocarbonate Reactor in which the sulphuric acid is neutralized. Both reactors are supplied with a strong holding system
